About WHCF
The Beginning
In 1980, a multidisciplinary group of professionals and health and family planning advocates felt that women's health can only be achieved if all aspects of her health needs were met. WHCF was then established with the main objective of improving women's health – physical, emotional, mental- through the provision of quality comprehensive health services and accurate and adequate health information. This was well before “reproductive health” became a catchword.
The original members of the Board of Trustees were: Dr. Julita Alfonso Ms. Nora Protacio Dr. Lydia Alfonso Dr. Ledevina Cariño Mr. Eduardo Borje Jr. Mr. Francisco Perez Dr. Amelia Marañon Dr. Nilo Roa Mr. Amor Oribello Dr. Pedro Solis Mr. Renato Andre Paraan Ms. Carrie Lorrenzana Atty. Cesar Borje Mr. Ed Nathan Drillon Dr. Marilyn Lorenzo Dr. Benilda Aquino Mr.Benjamin De Leon Mr. Oscar Escobar with Dr. Trinidad Gomez as Executive Director.
Its main clinic was at 1589 Crispina Building, Quezon Avenue, Q.C. with outreach clinics at Baseco, Barangays 178 in Camarin, Caloocan, Gulod in Novaliches, UP Campus and San Dionisio in Paranaque. It helped establish other organizations like Alliance for Women's Health, KALAKASAN, PNGOC, Remedios AIDS Foundation, WomanHealth, ReproCen, Reproductive Rights Resource Group and the Philippine Chapter of APNEC.

Principles, Vision and Objectives
Vision
WHCF envisions a society where women enjoy good health – physically, mentally, emotionally, socially and spiritually - throughout their life cycle; a society where women are respected and treated with dignity, and where women are able to exercise their reproductive health rights. In this society, women are active participants in decision- and policy-making with regard to all aspects of their personal, family, civic and professional lives, at all levels of society, particularly in matters regarding their welfare, health, bodies and relationships. Here, men accept responsibility for their sexual and social behaviors, equitably work with women in all spheres of life for their mutual benefit and development and that of their family and of future generations. Families live peacefully and productively in appropriate dwellings within a clean and sustainable environment. WHCF dreams of a Philippines where there is minimal poverty and violence, and where justice prevails. WHCF shall be at the forefront of creating this society.

Its mission then is to provide quality, gender- and rights-based, comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services, information and training.
